Biodiversity
Biodiversity is the variety of all life on the planet. Humanity depends on the planet's biodiversity for survival. We depend on the planet’s forests and oceanic phytoplankton to balance atmospheric gases, removing carbon dioxide and producing molecular oxygen. The world’s food production is dependent on pollination, soil microbiome & detritivore communities and sustainable fish populations. The planet’s biodiversity provides building materials, medicines, technological inspiration and defines many of the diverse cultures of the human population.
