There is a thriving population of long-horned bees (Eucera longicornis) in Hastings nesting on the cliffs and foraging from flower rich meadows within the Borough.

This is the latest map based on the most recent records of this nationally scarce solitary bee. Most records are concentrated within the soft rock undercliff and cliff-top grassland of Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve although the species is spreading with recent records at Marline Valley and Hastings Castle. The recent Hastings Bee Project has been creating new habitat for the species.
